Main points of breeding and management of breeder chickens

The technology of breeding chickens is the key. The age of the hens at the start of production, depending on the breed, is about 5 to 7 months. After the start of production, the egg production in the first year was the highest in a few in vitro, and the egg production gradually decreased after the second year. If the egg production in the first year is calculated as 100%, the egg production in the second to fifth years will drop to 84%, 72%, 63%, and 55% respectively. Therefore, keeping old chickens in the flock and not being eliminated is not good for production, especially for some dual-purpose chickens.

The breeding roosters have strong mating performance in the first year, and after the breeding season has passed, they should be eliminated immediately to avoid wasting feed. Hens are also eliminated after 12 to 14 months of laying. The "all-in, all-out" method is adopted to keep the chicken farms at a high level of production, and it is also convenient for breeding management and epidemic prevention.

Moulting is a physiological phenomenon of hens adapting to living conditions, and is the result of aging of feather tissue and weakening of sexual function. Therefore, after the hen has laid eggs for a long time, with the shortening of autumn sunshine, the secretion of sex hormones decreases, and the phenomenon of moulting occurs. The time and speed of the moulting time is one of the main indicators for the chicken farm to identify how many eggs the hen lays. Low-yielding chickens often start moulting and stop production at the end of summer or early autumn, and the speed of moulting is very slow, often for 3 to 4 months. High-yielding chickens only start to change books at the end of autumn or early winter, and they will resume laying eggs after about 1 to 2 months. In the case of sinking, according to the time and speed of the book change, the pros and cons of the hen's egg production performance can be preliminarily identified.

When the hens moult, the egg production decreases or stops completely. In the feeding management, we should try to delay the moulting time. Once the moulting begins, we should shorten the moulting period to increase the hen's egg production.
